Cuban Foreign Ministry: Washington's limited steps in the right direction do not change the embargo policy

The Cuban Foreign Ministry affirmed that the US policy towards Cuba has not changed, noting that the current US administration's cancellation of a number of measures against Havana is "a limited step in the right direction, but it does not change the embargo policy in any way."

The ministry said in a statement today: “The new US measures towards Cuba do not change the embargo policy in any way and do not cancel the travel ban on Americans. Inhuman decisions made by the previous US administration.”

The Ministry reiterated Havana's readiness to pursue a dialogue with the United States government based on mutual respect on the basis of the Charter of the United Nations, without interfering in internal affairs and with full respect for independence and sovereignty.

The US State Department had announced earlier the cancellation of a number of measures taken by former US President Donald Trump against the island, including the return of commercial flights to all Cuban provinces, the abolition of the maximum remittances sent by Cuban families in the United States to their relatives in Cuba, and the restoration of a program of family reunification. family, providing new electronic payment methods, and supporting American private sector business activities in Cuba.

It is noteworthy that Cuba, which stood in the face of American colonial policies in Latin America, especially in Venezuela, is still subjected to an unjust economic blockade by the United States due to its policies rejecting the attempts of American exclusivity and hegemony.
