The district of Munich has awarded the “Little Muse” for the first time.

You can find out who won the Culture Prize and the Culture Promotion Prize here.

Landreis – As ambassador of the district, the Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn brass band in Schleißheim Castle has been awarded the newly created “Little Muse” culture prize.

Culture promotion prizes went to the Oberlandler Theaterjugend in Sauerlach and to "Moviejam", a team of young filmmakers from Taufkirchen.

The Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn brass band earned its reputation as an "ambassador of the district of Munich" through its decades-long commitment to folk and brass music.

The renowned jury liked the fact that the band was able to present different musical genres with different casts.

The depiction of folk music up to chamber music is a cultural peculiarity in the wind music scene.

In addition, the musicians can look back on "countless, even international concert tours", according to a press release.

The brass band kissed by the “little muse” stands out from the competition thanks to effective youth work.

The steadily increasing number of active musicians impressed the jury.

In his laudatory speech, BR presenter Stefan Semoff praised the musicians' cosmopolitanism.

The cultural advancement prize, so to speak, rewards exceptional talent.

The award is intended to motivate people to continue to get involved in cultural life in the district.

The Oberlandler Theaterjugend from Sauerlach and the young filmmakers from "Moviejam" from Taufkirchen have proven to be worthy.

The theater youth impressed with a holistic concept.

The young actors write their plays themselves and design their own sets.

The jury spoke of a "valuable contribution to the theater landscape in the district" and for the "preservation of the Bavarian language".

The managing director of the regional association for homeland care, Rudolf Neumaier, said that his heart literally rose when young people cultivated and used dialect.

Similarly euphoric, the popular music commissioner for the district of Upper Bavaria, Matthias Fischer, praised the creativity and empathy of the young filmmakers from Moviejam, which is reflected in their works.

With technically "incredibly well-made, emotional" films, they drew attention to critical, socially relevant topics: "Your work is courageous and hurts;

that is why it is so important,” said Matthias Fischer.

District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) underlined the social importance of art and culture in view of the experiences caused by Corona: "We launched the award at a time when cultural life across the country has almost fallen silent." The event in the festival hall of the new Castle in Schleissheim was a premiere.

The district never awarded a culture prize.

The “Little Muse” was chosen as the trophy in a separate competition last year.

The creator of the wooden sculpture is the sculptor Johann Strimmer from Ottobrunn, who died in 2021.

With the awards, the district wants to know that cultural and civic commitment is recognized and awakened.

The culture prize is endowed with 1000 euros.

There is 500 euros for the sponsorship award, with which the district encourages talented artists to stick with it.
