Apartment fire in Nuremberg: man dies in fire
The firefighters were able to extinguish the apartment fire and prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring houses.
According to the press release, the apartment building was evacuated as a precaution.
According to the police, the fire also resulted in a so-called smoke gas deflagration.
This is an explosion that occurs when the fire in an apartment goes out due to a lack of oxygen.
Negative pressure is created and air is sucked in from outside the dwelling, for example smoke that escaped from under a door can then be observed being drawn back into the room.
If, for example, a door is opened and a surge of oxygen comes back into the apartment, the remaining embers can ignite and an explosion occurs.
