A veteran is leaving the Gräfelfingen municipal council: Frauke Schwaiblmair from the Greens is retiring in the summer.

Her successor will be Jürgen Evers.

Gräfelfing

– It comes as a surprise to many: Frauke Schwaiblmair (59) is leaving the Gräfelfing municipal council in the summer.

Jürgen Evers, born in 1961, is moving up.

Evers met the same fate as Schwaiblmair 17 years ago.

She also moved up, at that time for Katharina Weber, who had to step down for a while for professional reasons.

Schwaiblmair regrets leaving: "It would be fairer to the voters to complete the election period." But that doesn't work.

She is leaving for personal reasons that she does not want to carry out.

"It is hard for me.

It is a rational decision.” She continues to be enthusiastic about the work on the municipal council.

Only: "I have to economize with my strength."

Inclusion as a matter of the heart

Schwaiblmair has represented the interests of the Gräfelfinger community in the municipal council since 2005 and has left its mark.

"The inclusive idea has become more conscious," she says.

And that is a topic that is particularly close to her heart.

Traffic lights in the community are now emitting beeps, Rottenbucher Strasse has been partially made barrier-free and the community has an inclusion officer.

She regrets that there is still no Disability Advisory Board, but no majority has been found for it.

As far as other issues are concerned, she says: “I am pleased that there is no bypass road yet.” She was bitterly disappointed that nothing came of the wood chip thermal power station.

She would not want to miss her years on the municipal council.

"I am enthusiastic about the fact that I can actively shape my next living environment." Anyone who thinks "does politics

what she wants," she says: "That's not true." You can help shape it.

You will miss the political discourse;

in Gräfelfing this is characterized by fairness, openness and mutual respect.

She will keep a local political office.

In the district council, she wants to continue until at least 2023.

"Very popular and well-known"

Schwaiblmair will leave a gap in local politics in Graefelfing.

She "is extremely popular and well-known," says the third mayor and fellow party member, Martin Feldner.

In the most recent local elections, she got "over 2,000 votes, twice as many as the rest of us."

With Schwaiblmair's departure on July 31, the Greens get a new group leader in the municipal council;

Ulrike Tuchnitz, alongside Katharina Weber, will assume this office in the future.

Her seat on the main committee and on the committee for social affairs, school, culture and sports issues goes to Evers.

The oboist and orchestra musician is in very good hands there, says Feldner.

And if he or others have any questions, Schwaiblmair assures: "I'm not going underground."
