The first town hall meeting in two years.

There was a lot to report for Michael Strobl.

For almost three hours, the mayor of Habach submitted a detailed statement of accounts in front of his numerous citizens.

Habach – There was a wide range of topics that Michael Strobl had to work through at the Habach citizens' meeting.

The record ranged from the development of the number of inhabitants to the situation with the municipal finances to the upcoming large projects such as the expansion of the municipal flood protection, necessary renovation work on the local elementary school and the construction of the cross connection from the Habacher roundabout up to the old Antdorfer Straße, and so on to calm the traffic for Habach and its district of Dürnhausen.

There were also numerous smaller projects that Strobl reported on.

These include the planned drinking water emergency network with Penzberg, the status of the new construction areas on the Kirchwies or the way to school and the planned forest kindergarten in the Jaudenmühle district.

Municipal finances: "We can't whine about that"

As far as municipal finances are concerned, "we can't complain about that," said Strobl, who reported on the current year 2022 and gave a review of 2021, since no town hall meeting could take place this year due to the pandemic.

From an economic point of view, the pandemic does not seem to have any negative consequences for Habach.

As Strobl reported, trade tax “rose very sharply” from 2020 to 2021.

Because the municipality was in such good shape for tax purposes in 2019, it did not receive any key assignments last year.

"There are only a few communities in the district that don't receive key assignments," explained Strobl, not entirely without pride.

Mayor does not rule out expansion of the school building for the future

He then went into detail about the necessary renovation and modernization measures that are to be tackled at the local school building starting this year.

The building was constructed in 1954.

"There's a lot to do," says Strobl.

More than one million euros is currently planned for the measure.

Strobl also did not rule out an expansion of the school building for the future, should this become necessary.

Because the fact that a municipality has at least one primary school is “very important” for families and their children.

The municipality has already secured a plot of land that is necessary for a school expansion.

According to Strobl, a canteen could be built here if required.

Kindergarten: More staff than necessary - for the benefit of the children

As far as the local kindergarten is concerned, more staff are employed here than is actually necessary - for the benefit of the children, as Strobl said.

“We can afford that.” Since the existing crèche is already almost full, he does not rule out that a second crèche group will soon have to be opened.

Strobl also addressed the situation in the commercial area: almost all the building sites here have now been sold.

The municipality is only holding back a plot of land measuring around 7,000 square meters - despite numerous inquiries from prospective buyers in the region.

According to Strobl, the area is to be reserved for Habach companies.

Another property whose lease expires in 2028.

Municipality is still holding back commercial property

The planning for a building yard, which the municipality wanted to build on its own property in the commercial area, has been stopped for the time being, because: "Maybe we can get a building yard somewhere else." Strobl did not go into detail about it.

Instead, he explained to those present the individual measures to improve flood protection for the community.

The first measure is already being implemented with the construction of the flood protection wall in the main town.

More will follow;

including the construction of various ditch systems in order to drain off the water flowing from the direction of the Höhlmühle in a controlled manner.

"But we haven't got that far in the planning yet," admitted the mayor.

And the water management office in Weilheim would have to approve the plans first.
