A clash of cultures: “RiA” aka Maria Reiser made music in the Auer Schlossbräukeller together with the North German Stedesander Seevagabunden.

"RiA"

, still known to many in the

Hallertau region

as

Maria Reiser

, has been the first

Bavarian rapping musician

since the end of 2019 .

The power woman, who has made a name for herself with her lifestyle over the past two and a half years, says she stands for "unity, diversity and a colorful world".

Cultural exchange in the Schlossbräukeller: North German music culture meets Bavarian attitude to life

The Lower Bavarian describes her homeland and the Bavarian culture as "cosy, with people who are who they are - authentic", which the artist herself also exemplifies: "I've never been open-mouthed".

But the Bavarian way of life also includes “pretzels, beer and hop gardens”.

And that's what the

eleven men of the Stedesander Seevagabunden got

to know during their visit to the Hallertau last Wednesday: in the evening, Bavarian and North German music culture met in the

Auer Schlossbräukeller

.

Since the morning, the sailors got to know and love the Bavarian nature: the mountains, hop gardens and the mild climate of the day made an impression on the 31-year-old "captain" and his crew.

The challenge for the evening was then to take on the other dialect in order to also harmonize for the song lyrics.

For RiA, for example, "Plattdutsch" was on the timetable and Bavarian for the North Frisians.

Cultural exchange in the Schlossbräukeller: Harmony despite problems of understanding

"But I had a bit of trouble with the dialect," reports President Marc André Michaelsen, who directs the youngest shanty choir and explains that the North Germans are actually rather taciturn.

The spirit is characterized by camaraderie and a sense of homeland.

So RiA came up with something for the song together.

Therefore, she shortened the text of the song of the same name "Bum, bum, bum, der Watschnbam foit um, um, um" to the words "bum, bum, bum - um, um, um", which the group of the "North Frisian answer to the Backstreet Boys” then accompanied the rap in the background.

"This will be my new favorite song," laughed a guest at the regulars' table and repeated the memorable lines.

Cultural exchange in the Schlossbräukeller: Good atmosphere at the open-air evening

"The guys are just mega - born entertainers," said RiA after the concert.

That evening he was enthusiastic about the openness of the visitors, who danced and sang along.

The Auer Liedertafel also came to the beer garden especially for this occasion and sang along vigorously as the song “Madagaskar” was joined by helmsman Rainer Andresen.

The trained shipbuilder talked enthusiastically about the morning barge trip on the Danube through the Weltenburger Enge.

But what was it that grabbed the viewers?

The first outdoor summer evening, the good mood or the holiday feeling that the North Frisians brought to the Bavarian ambience?

Vera Schreiber from Rudelzhausen described it briefly and concisely: "It was just super nice, and I'm doing really well now."

Cultural exchange in the Schlossbräukeller: Josef Reiser was there

And how did Josef Reiser, Mainburg's former mayor and father of Maria Reiser, find his daughter's performance?

"I go with everything that Ria does and support her where I can, even if rap is probably no longer my style of music due to age," smiles the 65-year-old.

He can support his daughter if Reiser is allowed to look after his grandchildren.

"I really enjoy the time with the children."

Some fans of the Stedesander Seevagabunden and RiA should have more after this concert.

Perhaps they will then travel up to 1000 kilometers behind the musicians, as the biggest fan of the men's choir and godfather of Marc André Michaelsen did for this performance.

The video of the borderless cultural exchange can be seen here from August 5th.
