Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann wants to exercise restraint in principle in the upcoming double budget, but create new jobs in the education sector.
The tax estimate is basically pleasing, but should be treated with caution, said the Green politician on Tuesday in Stuttgart.
The Ukraine war and the consequences of the Corona crisis are major risks for the economy and tax revenue.
Stuttgart - "The situation is simply that we are not in the times of making a wish." There is scope, but it is not great.
Kretschmann sees clear priorities: "But with all caution, we will also be able to provide the necessary funds in the priority areas, such as climate protection or in education." The schools should be strengthened: "Where we certainly have to create jobs again, that is of course in Education.” Otherwise, all departments would have to be extraordinarily cautious with new “structural requests”.

The tax estimate showed that the country can expect more than 7.4 billion euros in tax revenue by 2026 than was expected in November.
The coalition's budget committee will meet next Monday to deal with the cornerstones of the double budget.
