The year before last, 12 Hong Kong residents absconded in the Mainland by boat and were intercepted. Among them, 2 men, Liao Ziwen and Zheng Zihao, who were returned after serving their sentences, and 2 other men were involved in a petrol bomb case in Hong Kong.
Following Liao and another man in the same case yesterday (16th) pleaded guilty to one count of possession of an item with intent to destroy or damage property, Zheng Zihao also pleaded guilty to the same charge in the District Court today (17th).
The case has been adjourned until tomorrow morning, when the cases of the three people will be dealt with.
Only one defendant in the case remains unanswered.
Four defendants: Cheng Jin (33 years old, fashion designer), Cheng Zihao (19 years old, trainee trainee of MTR), Li Weilong (27 years old, chef) and Liu Ziwen (19 years old, student).
The charges allege that the units involved in the case contained glass bottles and gasoline, etc.
Cheng Tsz-ho today pleaded guilty to an alternate charge of possession with intent to destroy or damage property, alleging that he and others possessed glass bottles, petrol and lighter fluid in a unit in Kam Lok Building, Lockhart Road, Wan Chai on September 30 of the same year.
4 charged with arson conspiracy
All four defendants were originally charged with one count of conspiracy to endanger life with arson, alleging that they were in Hong Kong in September 2019, conspiracy to destroy or damage another person's property with fire without lawful excuse, with the aim of endangering another person's life or disregarding the life of another person will be endangered.
1 defendant has yet to respond
In the case, only the defendant Li Weilong has not yet answered, and it will take time to discuss with the prosecution other ways of dealing with the trial.
The other three defendants, namely Zheng Jin, Liao Ziwen and Zheng Zihao, have all pleaded guilty to alternate charges with lesser criminal responsibilities. The arson charge is allowed to be filed in court, and the prosecution will deal with the three admitted cases tomorrow.
