After almost three years of abstinence from the Oktoberfest, the TÜV has made a premature start: the new Bräurosl tent for the Munich Oktoberfest in autumn 2022 is already taking shape.

Munich - It looks a bit like the skeleton of a stranded whale, the scaffolding that has just been created on the Theresienwiese.

Oktoberfest tent construction already in mid-May?

A bit early, but there's a simple reason: The Bräurosl tent is new, was supposed to be used for the first time in 2020 and therefore has to be erected now - for ground work and TÜV approval.

A rare sight, especially since the Oktoberfest was canceled twice.

And for the construction work for Oktoberfest 2022 - as before - the entire area will be fenced in again.

Now onlookers can still get close.

"People stop and watch with interest," says a construction worker.

Children in particular are very impressed by the hustle and bustle with cranes and excavators.

Only the Bräurosl area is currently fenced off.

"A serious impairment in the use of the Theresienwiese is not associated with it," says the economics department.

The erection of the other tents will officially start on June 20th.

The city is still providing information about the closures, which will be similar to previous years.

"In any case, an attempt is made to maintain crossing options for as long as the construction site facilities allow," it says.

On September 17, the largest folk festival in the world is supposed to start again.

Munich and the new Bräurosl tent: What will change at the Wiesn 2022

Around a handful of workers are currently working on the “New Bräurosl tent” project.

They are used with the lifting platform at a height of up to 15 meters to fasten the roof construction.

When the main part is in place, the slightly flatter north extension should come.

And then there is digging: three to four weeks until all the necessary lines have been laid.

In total, the tent should offer space for around 6,000 visitors.

New: In the south there is a gallery on the first floor - covered and heated.

In addition, the new Bräurosl tent advertises a chicken roastery in the beer garden and a pretzel bakery at the main entrance.

The Oktoberfest is slowly becoming visible.

The anticipation is rising.

Especially since the opening times have even been extended so that you can enjoy the world-famous folk festival in Munich to the full.
