Tonight, the Netanya police arrested a resident of the city on suspicion of threatening to harm his ex-wife in front of her children.
According to the complainant, while she was staying with her children at her home, her divorcee arrived unexpectedly.
After reprimanding him for this, the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened to hit her in front of her children.
Upon receiving the complaint, the police opened an intensive investigation and after a quick investigation, the police located the suspect, a 37-year-old city resident. The knife used by the suspect to carry out the act was also located.
At the end of his interrogation, the suspect was arrested and today his detention was extended in the Petah Tikva Court
This arrest takes place against the background of the discussion surrounding Israel's accession to the "Istanbul Convention".
The Minister of Justice, Gideon Saar, intends to sign in the coming weeks on the International Convention, the declared issue of which is the prevention of violence against women or within the family.
However, joining the agreement also provokes political opposition, especially from right-wing elements who warn that the move will force Israel to expand its immigration policy.
