New Green faction celebrates top candidate Neubaur

The new Greens parliamentary group in the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament welcomed their top candidate Mona Neubaur with jubilation and applause on Tuesday.
The parliamentary group, which grew from 14 to 39 MPs after a record increase in votes, came together for its inaugural meeting.
Since the previous parliamentary group hall was too small, the Greens got a replacement hall.
Düsseldorf – The eco-party almost tripled its result in the state elections on Sunday to 18.2 percent (2017: 6.4) and took third place.
"I am pleased that we have so many new MPs," said parliamentary group leader Josefine Paul of the German Press Agency.
"We now have a really diverse and diverse group that also brings in very different perspectives." The group is a mixture of young but also experienced people with different backgrounds.
"It's going to be a really exciting time, and that will also bring a breath of fresh air to state politics."
In addition to the Green Party leader, Neubaur, the new MPs also include project manager Simon Rock (33) from the Rhine district of Neuss.
"It's a great honor for me, but also a great challenge," he said.
"The voters' great vote of confidence also means great responsibility."
