Opinion | A Chronicle of a Predictable Jewish Death | Israel today

2022-05-17T20:20:52.852Z

The state should not focus on what it looks like in the world, but on maintaining our sovereignty and life here.

The "Nakba" day 2022 symbolizes the peak of the nightmare in which Israel has been in the past week.

Since the death of journalist Sheerin Abu Akala, we have been deteriorating at a dizzying pace from rejection to rejection, not seeing the end of the slope on the horizon.

Within two days, we managed to sandal the police and the army: the army is accused of murdering the free press that brings the voice of opponents of the occupation, and the police of rioting and beating the mourners for the murder + desecration of the dead + extras + VAT.

And when there is no army or police, the Palestinians on both sides of the Green Line allow themselves to go wild, because who can over them.

Palestinian flags and violence at Tel Aviv University, beatings in the Judea camp, a dummy funeral for terrorist Daoud Zabeidi accompanied by dozens of gunmen without anyone compensating here, almost a lynching of a Jew in the Issawiya neighborhood of East Jerusalem, and unfortunately, probably until the issue goes to print.

In both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, the nationalist rioters received full backing from Knesset members representing them: Aida Suleiman ("proud of the impressive young people who insist on revealing the true history of this place"), Ofer Kasif who beat a policeman and Ahmad Tibi who abducted and released a riot from the police.

Seemingly - a dead end.

Moreover: the bumps in this road were expected from the moment the journalist was killed.

This crazy spiral that always, but always ends in blackening Israel's name in the world, and in depriving Jews of their lives, does not surprise anyone.

But you do not have to enter this road.

There is another way.

After all, we know that they will blacken our faces, that we will be kidnapped from all over the world.

As in Operation The Guardian of the Walls, as in "Strong Cliff", as always.

Our subservience, which involves the neutering of law enforcement, does not change anything, nor does the truth change anything.

The innocence of the thought that "if we prove to the world that we are okay he will not hit us this time," stems from a familiar syndrome of a battered woman.

So if it's a no-brainer anyway, why not try to put a stripe on everyone, and once in a while tell the truth, really?

This whole situation could have looked different.

What if after the journalist's death all the heads of state were reading from a uniform message sheet: her death is unfortunate, we do not know who killed her, but we are sure that she, as a war journalist, knew the risks in the profession.

If we wanted to kill her we could have done it in sophisticated and time consuming ways, but we are not.

further.

At the funeral of the gunmen in Jenin - to do what Noam Raz's son said: Do not endanger our people and fire a missile at those who carry illegal weapons while swearing that he will be directed to avenge the death of the terrorist (ie everyone has motive + means + intent. Really not need more).

One wise man once said to me, when discussing whether to shoot stone-throwers: I prefer a good lawyer to a good cantor.

This is true in the micro as well as in the macro: the state should not focus on how it looks in the world, but on maintaining our sovereignty and life here.

And because we will be condemned in one way or another, we must not return to this spiral, in which the pre-determined death of Jews.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
