Boys from the settlement of Peduel in Samaria were shocked to discover graffiti at the Zarda archeological site over the weekend.
In graffiti - rifles and pistols, a flag of the Palestinian Authority, a map of the Land of Israel and an address thanks to the martyrs, probably from Nablus.
This is a fairly touristy site mostly by locals, boys, who make sure to come up weekly with bags and clean up the trash that is thrown in the place regularly.
During Passover, hundreds of travelers from all over the country visited the area.
The head of the Samaria Council, Yossi Dagan: "Every member of culture should be shocked by the destruction of a historic site of importance to all of humanity, and certainly to the Jewish people. This is an attack on our right to the land. If we do not wake up, we will be without history."
The Tzarda site, at Horbat Bynet-Bar near Peduel, is located down Nahal Shilo within the boundaries of the Nature Reserves and Parks Authority.
The site was identified by some scholars as the biblical city of Zarda mentioned in the Book of Kings as the city of Jeroboam son of Nebat, king of Israel after the split from Judah.
The Civil Administration responded: "The administration considers the destruction and destruction of archeological sites in the area very serious. The administration invests a great deal of effort in preserving the archeological sites in the area."
