Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that Russian relations, especially trade with Kyrgyzstan, are developing positively.

TASS news agency quoted Putin as saying in a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Sader Gabarov yesterday after the CSTO summit in Moscow: "We now have an opportunity to talk about our bilateral relations and there are many issues of common interest... But I would like to note right away that our relations in general are developing Positively,” highlighting “a significant increase in trade between the two countries last year, which jumped by more than 30 percent, as Russia confidently occupies the first place in trade with Kyrgyzstan.”

Putin added: "There are, of course, issues that require separate discussion... I am very happy because on the sidelines of our international event we can talk about and discuss them."

In a separate meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the summit, Putin noted good growth in bilateral trade last year, pointing out that he is in regular contact with the Armenian Prime Minister on all issues on the bilateral agenda and on regional problems, adding that “Russia and Armenia are in contact with each other. their joint efforts to settle the Karabakh problem.”

In turn, Pashinyan stressed, "there is a strong tendency to strengthen economic relations with Russia after they declined a little last March.. Of course, we see investment interests of Russian businessmen and companies to invest in Armenia, and we know that President Putin encourages them, and we thank him for that."

Yesterday, Moscow hosted the Summit of Heads of State of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to discuss improving the organization's capabilities in peacekeeping operations and strengthening military cooperation among its members.

The CSTO currently includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
