Vladimir Putin is not ready to make peace.
Meanwhile, Russia is trying to blame Ukraine for the destruction of Mariupol.
MOSCOW - Amid the Ukraine conflict, Russia's President Vladimir Putin is rejecting negotiations with Ukraine.
In conversations with world leaders, he shared that the time for talks about the end of the war had not yet come.
This was stated by Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in the joint news program Uarazom.
This is reported by the newspaper Ukrainska Pravda.
“We know that several leaders and states have appealed to President Putin to sit down at the negotiating table.
But unfortunately he's still not ready for that, besides he's telling some leaders that the time hasn't come," Zhovkva said.
According to him, Russia still hopes for a few more victories on the front in Ukraine in order to strengthen its negotiating position.
At the same time, he assured Ukrainians that Russia would not be able to achieve this.
Ukraine war: Russia offers money for false accusations
Meanwhile, Russia appears to be leaving no stone unturned to tarnish Ukraine's reputation or achieve some form of victory by any means necessary.
According to the US news portal Newsweek, Russia is offering residents of the besieged city of Mariupol money if they blame Ukraine's military for the demolition of houses or the deaths of family members.
An adviser to Mariupol Mayor Petro Andryushchenko sent a Telegram message as a "warning" to the city's residents.
In order to seek compensation for the destruction, they would have to submit a written statement blaming Ukraine for the destruction.
City residents who fail to provide the statements or refuse to attach them will not receive any compensation, he said.

Russia is offering residents with destroyed homes the equivalent of about $6,000 and about $33,000 in compensation for a deceased family member, Andryushchenko said.
He added that Russia received "tens of thousands of handwritten written 'testimonies' about the 'atrocities committed by the Ukrainian army'".
