The head of the Russian Defense Administration Center, Lieutenant-General Mikhail Mizintsev, announced that Ukrainian extremists have turned the buildings of kindergartens, hospitals and churches into firing points.
"The neo-Nazis of the Azov battalion in Mirnograd turned a kindergarten and a boarding school into fortified points and barracks, and deployed armored vehicles and artillery near residential areas," Russia Today website quoted Mezintsev as saying in a statement. Military barracks and they have installed heavy military equipment, artillery, and mortars on the lands of educational institutions.”
The statement confirmed that the extremists forcibly detained civilians and children in the basements of the buildings and turned a church in Pavlograd in the Dnepropetrovsk region into firing positions and deployed weapons in its sanctuary.
The statement indicated that the militants in Zaporozhye have turned basements of hospitals into ammunition depots and that they are holding hospital staff and patients and using them as human shields.
Mizintsev had announced last Tuesday that the forces of the regime authorities in Kyiv had turned three schools into fire points and weapons depots in eastern Ukraine.
