At the beginning of the meeting of the Council for Higher Education held today (Tuesday), the Minister of Education and the chairman of the council instructed the legal adviser to examine sanctions on students who take part in incitement, violence and harm to state symbols:
These dangerous phenomena must be fought to the bitter end. "
Shasha-Bitton shared that the photos published this week from Tel Aviv University shocked her: "What we have seen on campuses in recent days is unacceptable. Students in the State of Israel must not be afraid to wave state flags on campuses or anywhere else. This is our country and we will wave it proudly. I am of course "For freedom of expression and academic freedom, but we will not allow incitement and harm to the State of Israel and its symbols. These dangerous phenomena must be fought to the bitter end, everywhere."

As you may recall, this week Arab students from Tel Aviv University celebrated "Nakba Day" when Palestinian flags were hoisted during the event and clashes began with students from the "If You Will" movement who demonstrated there.
As a result, police arrested three students on suspicion of violating public order.
At the event, a Jewish student stood out waving the Israeli flag in front of a group of Arab protesters until the flag was confiscated from her.
