The dream of the multi-purpose hall in Brunnthal is over for the time being.

The community simply cannot afford the million dollar project.

Brunnthal

– The Brunnthal clubs are bursting at the seams, the need for space is immense and the construction of a multi-purpose hall for the sports, cultural and local history clubs has been debated for years.

But for the time being it will remain a matter of debate.

A feasibility study commissioned by the municipality from the Munich project planners LMR for the construction of a triple gymnasium on a piece of land between Brunnthal and Hofolding brought clear findings:

Brunnthal's financial situation does not allow for a new building costing up to around 20 million euros.

"There won't be a multi-purpose hall in three years," confessed Mayor Stefan Kern (CSU) at the end of the deliberations.

The hall dream in the area municipality is over for the time being.

However, the municipal council agreed on a further course of action.

Potential savings should first be explored.

The Finance Committee will then deal with this in the autumn.

A slimmed-down concept can then possibly be developed.

It could have been so beautiful

The worked out variants of the planners were quite nice.

18 local clubs responded to a letter from the planners and got their currently around 2,000 members ready to start.

The prognosis of the clubs shows: TSV Brunnthal, TSV Hofolding and others are expected to grow by around 20 percent by 2025 alone.

A possible location in the distillery area around Hofoldinger Straße was examined.

Models from the "partially buried triple hall with a flat roof" and a lavish open space concept from football artificial turf to tennis to archery to the "above-ground hall with a reduced area concept" were rolled over.

Such an area could be completed in around two years of construction.

In the subjunctive.

Because at the latest when looking at the costs, the planners could have packed up their colorful foil models again.

Helmut Vorleitner junior (CSU) summed up the general mood: "I would be very happy about such a triple hall, but we simply can't afford it!".

Group colleague Thomas Mayer argued with numbers.

We have twelve million euros in the asset account, on the other hand we have big expenses ahead of us," he emphasized with a view to childcare and the senior center (we reported).

Mayer painted a dark picture for the clubs.

"It probably won't work for the next ten years."

Clubs struggle for solutions

Matthias Amtmann (UBW) in a double function as municipal councilor and chairman of TSV Brunnthal showed understanding in view of the costs.

At the same time, one must "continue to work continuously on the basis of the study" and possibly launch a "slimmed-down version with a hall or artificial turf first".

He saw "light at the end of the tunnel".

Anton Mayer's tendency as chairman of TSV Hofolding went in another direction.

The idea of a self-refinancing tennis air dome in the area described is also "charming".

Currently, around 90 children and young people have to be driven back and forth between various halls.

Needs that the up-and-coming Brunnthaler football also registers.

From the three-year-old children upwards, several teams start the league in some age groups.

Hofolding countered this with successful table tennis.

Just examples of two of a total of 18 clubs with increasing space requirements and a great need for space.

In any case, possible funding pots will have to be tapped if the hall is to become a reality at some point, stressed Mayor Kern.
