Lattakia City Council started maintenance and paving works on a number of roads on the main axes within the city, at a total cost of 600 million Syrian pounds.
The head of the city council, Hussain Zingerli, told SANA that the first phase of the paving works includes the main axes within the city on the Al-Thawra highway and the Blue Beach highway, pointing out that the road maintenance work will include separate sites within the city, including Sqobin, Damsarkho, Martgla and the western and southern Corniche.
Zingerli pointed out that the works currently being carried out in the first phase on the Al-Thawra highway are carried out under the contract signed with the Military Housing Corporation 2 branch, at a value of 300 million liras, and it includes scraping and replacing the al-Majbool asphalt layer in the most needed sites from the entrance to the city towards Al-Thawra Roundabout to Aden Roundabout and Ras Shamra Road.
It also includes paving and maintenance of roads on the Blue Beach highway, according to Zingerli: from Al-Azhari roundabout and towards the Sports City roundabout, all the way to the Blue Beach roundabout.
For his part, Engineer Ali Droubi from the General Company for Roads and Bridges branch pointed out that the damaged sites will be skimmed and replaced with an 8-cm thick asphalt slurry layer within the required technical specifications.
