Harmonic Brass performs in the Church of St. Benedict in Odelzhausen - with a delay.
The quintet inspires with high musicality.
Odelzhausen - Actually, many Odelzhausen residents were already looking forward to this concert on New Year's Eve: Because it has now become almost a tradition in the town that the Kulturverein Kult A8 organizes a concert with the wind quintet Harmonic Brass at the turn of the year.
But here, too, the corona pandemic intervened in winter.
The joy of many music lovers was all the greater that the event could now be rescheduled in the church of St. Benedict in spring.
"You can't replace everything," emphasized musician Andreas Binder.
"What is possible at a live concert is not possible on any laptop and with any stream."
For the performance in Odelzhausen, Binder on French horn, Elisabeth Fessler and Hans Zellner on trumpet, piccolo trumpet and flugelhorn, Alexander Steixner on trombone and Karl-Wilhelm Hultsch on tuba had prepared a varied program.
Again and again the individual wind players use the opportunity to emphasize their high individual skills and musical level in various solos.
The audience expected pure, euphonious and clear brass sound, resounding fanfares, snappy melodies, but also calm, emotional sounds.
The ensemble performed pieces by great composers such as a suite by Johann Sebastian Bach, the sparkling champagne aria by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with trombone solo or the virtuoso trumpet concerto by Johann Nepomuk Hummel.
The trumpeters also played the fanfare trumpet very precisely when, among other things, the famous triumphal march was heard in an excerpt from Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aida.
Atmospheric melodies from the musical The Phantom of the Opera made the audience dream, and a medley of various hits by Udo Jürgens had potential to catch the ear.
Trumpeter Elisabeth Fessler composed the piece "Shake it" herself - and the loose melodies really made you want to move.
At times, the brass also integrated percussion and percussion instruments into their performance.
"We celebrate life together with you," explained Andreas Binder.
Finally, he not only appeared as a horn player and humorous moderator, but also as a singer.
The quintet said goodbye with the Italian lullaby "Guarda che Luna" - or, as Binder sang in a German version: "Look at the moon".

In any case, the concert should not have been the last appearance of Harmonic Brass in Odelzhausen - and maybe a New Year's Eve event is possible again this year.
