Two people were killed and a third injured in a shooting that took place on a highway in southern Indiana.
"The shooting occurred after an officer with the Palmyra Police Department stopped to assist a driver on a state road about 20 miles northwest of Louisville, Kentucky when two other people in a pickup truck stopped for assistance and within seconds," the Associated Press quoted local authorities as saying in a statement. Several people were shot after they got out of their cars, killing two people, one of them a 31-year-old sports car driver and the other 24, in addition to wounding a third person.
She explained that the investigators did not mention the number of weapons used in the incident, the number of shots fired, or the people who fired them.
The United States witnesses frequent shooting incidents in light of laws that legalize the bearing of arms as an individual right and the prevalence of violence in American society.
