In Nuremberg, people are preparing for the 9-euro ticket.

Meanwhile, it is not really clear whether it will come at all.

Voting will take place on Thursday.

Nuremberg – It is part of the federal government's large relief package: the 9-euro ticket.

But there was hardly any other point in the package that was more controversial than the cheap ticket.

Meanwhile, it is not even certain whether it will come at all.

Although it is scheduled to start on June 1st, the final financing is still not clear.

As it currently looks, Bavaria could veto the important vote in the Bundesrat.

9-euro ticket in Nuremberg: Bavaria could block it in the Bundesrat

Because the financing has not yet been finally clarified, Bavaria does not want to go along with the 9-euro ticket.

"Under the current conditions, I do not see that Bavaria can approve the law in the Bundesrat," said Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter (CSU) on Sunday.

Criticism of this attitude comes from the Greens, among others.

"The Bavarian government, of all people, is blocking the nine-euro ticket and is pointing to a necessary 'permanent strengthening' of public transport," wrote Victoria Brossart on Twitter.

It will be voted on in the Bundestag on Thursday, May 19.

The Federal Council will deal with it a day later.

The federal government is financing the project by transferring 2.5 billion euros to the states to compensate for the loss of income.

That's not enough for them.

The federal states want the federal government to significantly increase the regionalization funds - this is money that the federal government makes available to the federal states every year to finance local rail passenger transport.
