Employer and employee representatives from Bosch have agreed on the future of the location on Truderinger Strasse: production will be relocated, the location will remain.

Munich – The tug of war over the Bosch location on Truderinger Strasse is over.

Employer and employee representatives have agreed that industrial production will be relocated.

However, the location itself will remain the same: after the end of production, a service and development location is to be created in the east of Munich.

Bosch: Production in Munich is to be completed by the end of 2027

Production should therefore be phased out by the end of 2027 at the latest.

The production of parts for the electric fuel pump is scheduled to go to the Nuremberg site before the end of this year.

Valve production and pump assembly are then to be relocated to the Bosch locations in Hallein (Austria) and Budweis (Czech Republic) by the end of 2027 at the latest.

According to the company, a total of 230 employees in industrial production are affected by this decision, and there is a social plan for them.

Plant manager Jörg Luntz: "The agreed package of measures gives us the opportunity to find individual solutions for all employees."

Bosch wants to offer employees other jobs in the group, in the greater Munich area, but also at the Nuremberg plant.

In addition, employees should also be supported when they are placed with other companies.

"We rely on individual solutions," said a spokesman for our newspaper.

This may also include partial retirement arrangements or termination agreements.

According to the agreement, operational layoffs are excluded until March 31, 2024.

Bosch: Munich location attractive for many divisions

"We as employee representatives are satisfied that we have found a socially acceptable solution for our colleagues with the agreed step-by-step plan," says Giuseppe Ciccone, head of the works council.

The company spokesman has not yet been able to say exactly how things will continue on Truderinger Strasse.

The Munich location is attractive for many areas in the group, also because it is easy to recruit qualified employees here.

The location could also be interesting for corporate divisions that are already represented in Munich, such as BSH.

In any case, how many jobs will be created at the location can only be estimated once it is clear which group division will be awarded the contract.

Bosch had announced the possible end of the plant in the east of Munich last year.

It belongs to the Powertrain division, and its 230 employees manufacture components for combustion engines.

However, these are no longer needed in such large numbers as before, since the automotive industry is increasingly relying on electric drives.
