As usual, the result cultivates as much the art of purity as that of sumptuous detail.
With Peter Marino, as with Gabrielle Chanel at the time, the devil nests in the textures, between lacquer or hammered bronze, the color charts of beige, gold and matte black and the key pieces, both signed by the trades house art like Goossens, than by big names like Idris Khan or François-Xavier Lalanne.
On three floors, the gaze stops as much on the places as on the extraordinary ornaments of which the house has the secret.
In the line of sight in particular, the capsule of rare jewels that Chanel publishes especially in honor of 18 Place Vendôme, between sets of rubies and sapphires which pay homage to the style of Mademoiselle Chanel.
But the real highlight of the show is on the so-called "noble" floor.
This is where Chanel chose to exhibit its now legendary N°5 necklace with a 55.55-carat center diamond.
A tailor-made case with evocative and protective symbols that opens in time to celebrate next July the 90th anniversary of the founding collection “Bijoux de diamants”.
