Instead of handing in almost 15,000 euros found at the Furth train station to the police, a few young people made a nice living with the money - until their parents let them fly.

Oberhaching

– As reported by the police, a 62-year-old from Sauerlach had forgotten his briefcase with 14,900 euros in it at Furth station on May 2nd.

Realizing the mistake and hurrying back to the stopping point, he found his bag empty.

A 13-year-old discovered the forgotten bag on the platform and looked inside with great curiosity.

He discovered the envelope with the valuable content and took it with him.

He then boarded the S-Bahn, where he happened to meet a friend who he told about his find.

In the end, three boys and two girls - all under the age of 14 and from the southern district of Munich - knew that the cash had been found.

Instead of giving the money to the police, the group, who knew each other from school, had a good time with the money.

In addition to earrings and jewelry for the girls, the youths bought backpacks, went bowling and ate, according to the police.

In the end, even an e-scooter was purchased.

When about half the money was spent, the parents noticed that the children seemed to be living beyond their means and they got to the bottom of the matter.

When asked about this, the children admitted that they took the money and squandered it.

A large part of the purchases could be returned, so that in the end there was a shortfall of around 1000 to 2000 euros, which the parents of the children jointly raised.

Together with their remorseful children, they now appeared at the police station in Unterhaching and handed over the total of 14,900 euros.

The man from Sauerlach, who said he had already written off the money, can now pick up his property again.

Due to their age, the young people cannot be prosecuted, but they are still summoned to a clarifying discussion with the federal police.
