In the Wesslinger Wunderlhof, the free electoral community met for an annual general meeting.

Former mayor Michael Muther and the former, long-serving municipal councilor Thomas Ostermair were honored for their commitment.

– Susann Enders, member of the state parliament, also stopped by.

In the subsequent board elections, everyone agreed - and the new secretary is only 25 years old and her name is Lilly Reik.

There is a name change for the club in the room.

"We don't do parochial politics." This was the motto of the Free Voters in 1976. A motto that Michael Muther remained true to as mayor.

Chairman Rasso von Rebay praised the former mayor when he exercised his office "not conservatively, but cosmopolitanly".

For twelve years, Muther held the reins in the town hall.

Another veteran of the electoral community is Thomas Ostermair, who, according to von Rebay, "has always felt like a member" and helped shape the fortunes of the community at the council table until two years ago.

The chairman had also prepared a eulogy for the man who sat at the council table for 24 years.

He was "popular, open and helpful," von Rebay enumerated the qualities of the farmer, and in the elections he was elected to the council with the second or third most votes.

The member of parliament Susann Enders then reported on her career.

The trained nurse is now FW General Secretary.

The Freie Wahlergemeinschaft Wessling currently has 43 members.

One topic that concerned those present was the name of the club.

This suggests that they are a local association of free voters.

"But that's not the case," emphasized von Rebay.

Comparable to the Independent Voters' Community (UWG) in Starnberg, they are also independent, he said.

They only shared the electoral list with the Free Voters, who are currently in government responsibility.

"Often we have to justify the decisions or issues of the Free Voters," said Mayor Michael Sturm, explaining the proposed name change.

"Even for things that we don't stand behind at all," he said, referring to the discussion about vaccination.

A name that reflects independence is planned.

There are no ideas yet.

The Free Voters' Community also deals with other questions.

For example, what happens to the old school building as soon as the children have moved into their new learning home.

Offices, apartments or, if required, a day-care center would be possible.

The electoral community is also discussing the design of the intersection at Gautinger Strasse and Hauptstrasse.

"However, the administration is currently taking over the construction of the new school," von Rebay pointed out.

Added to this is the integration of refugees from Ukraine.

The 14 voters confirmed von Rebay as chairman and Otto Kühnl as treasurer.

Klaus Spiegel becomes Vice-Chairman.

And the new secretary, Lilly Reik, who is 25 years old, rejuvenates the board.
