The much-discussed new town hall building in Aschheim has started.

The old building is currently being demolished.

The municipality has meanwhile extended the lease for the alternative quarters.

Aschheim

– In recent years, a rather bitter dispute has raged in the municipal council over the Aschheim town hall.

A quarrel that is now finally over with the approach of a yellow excavator.

The demolition of the old town hall building has begun, the building will be replaced by a new building, and the administration will have even more space with the subsequent demolition of the so-called Sauter House.

However, the town hall departments will have to remain in the temporary home (Saturnstraße 48) for at least three more years.

During the discussion, there were local councils who wanted to replace the old building with a replacement building because it is more economical and accessibility can be optimally created.

Other municipal councils wanted to enter the planning competition with an open mind, and last but not least, former mayor Helmut Englmann gave the municipal decision-makers a lot to read with his sometimes more detailed letters.

But after the second majority decision for the new building of the front part of the town hall, the old building is now being demolished.

The municipal council finally decided on the demolition with 11:8 votes.

At 352,000 euros, it is only half as expensive as originally estimated (720,000 euros).

Managing director Christian Schürer explained to the municipal council that the entrepreneur was able to explain plausibly

why he was able to do the job so much cheaper.

The old building is currently being demolished, but the process from the architectural competition to moving into the new building, including the town hall extension, should take at least three years.

That is why the municipality has now extended the lease for the office building on Saturnstrasse.

The contract actually expires on September 30, 2023.

Now the municipality has decided to extend the contract by two years until September 30, 2025. According to the contract, short-term extension options could have been drawn, but they wanted to have planning security for themselves and for the owner of the building.

The two more years mean 369,000 euros in rental costs for the municipal treasury.

After long discussions and the commissioning of several expert opinions, Mayor Thomas Glashauser (CSU) now hopes that the construction project will proceed as quickly as the old building is currently being demolished.

You want to save yourself the costs for further lease extensions.
