Gauting - Due to a daring maneuver with a fully loaded cement mixer, a 44-year-old driver lands his truck in a corn field when turning in Gauting.

As reported by the Gauting police, the accident occurred at 11 a.m. on State Road 2069 between the Oberbrunn West and Unterbrunn West junctions.

The incident then resulted in a full closure of State Road 2069 in this area.

The 44-year-old driver of a concrete mixer truck from Munich Pullach had loaded a load of liquid concrete in Hochstadt and then, coming from Hochstadt, wanted to turn left onto the state road in the direction of Gilching/A 96.

But instead of driving to the stop line on the state road and stopping there, the driver performed an illegal and daring maneuver by switching to the oncoming lane in the direction of Hochstadt as a wrong-way driver, almost without significantly reducing his speed, and then to the exit lane of the state road drive in the direction of Hochstadt.

From there he then crossed the solid lane line of the state road to continue in the direction of Gilching.

Truck stays on its side

In doing so, he underestimated the centrifugal forces of his 30-ton truck at the speed he was driving in this left-hand bend, so that it overturned to the right in the adjacent field and remained there on the right-hand side, badly damaged.

The 25-year-old driver of a following truck from Augsburg, who was traveling in the direction of the A 96, had been able to observe the accident as it unfolded and had previously wondered about his colleague's daring manoeuvre.

He then immediately provided first aid after helping the driver involved in the accident to climb out via the sunroof in the driver's cab.

Cement mixer is recovered with a crane

Fortunately, the 44-year-old driver from Munich only suffered minor injuries and was taken to Starnberg Hospital for further examinations.

The overturned concrete mixer is recovered with a crane, and a special towing vehicle is also required to remove it.

The salvage and transport will take about four to five hours.

According to initial estimates, the resulting property damage should amount to 150,000 euros.

The fire brigades from Unterbrunn, Oberbrunn and Gauting are on site with 20 emergency services to secure the scene of the accident and to secure leaking operating materials.
