Schleswig-Holstein's Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) has invited the Greens and the FDP to a joint exploratory talk about forming a government.
"We have a good basis," said Günther on Wednesday evening in Kiel.
The state chairman had previously received the green light for such an invitation from the executive state board.
Kiel – Günther described the meeting planned for Thursday (2 p.m.) in a hotel in Kiel as a “coalition preparatory talk”.
Coalition negotiations could start as early as next week.

Günther was convinced that the three parties could succeed in forming a viable government.
"There are no cliffs," he said.
It is clear that the CDU handwriting must be reflected in the coalition agreement in view of 43.4 percent and an absolute majority of the Union that was only just missed.
He is aiming for a new edition of the Jamaica coalition, although his party would only have a secure majority in the state parliament with the Greens or the FDP.
