The sentence to life imprisonment inflicted in the first instance on Michele Venturelli, the 48-year-old goldsmith tried on charges of killing Ambra Pregnolato, a 41-year-old teacher, was confirmed by the Court of Assizes of Appeal in Turin.
The murder was committed on 21 January 2020 in Valenza (Alessandria).
The woman, who was having an affair with Venturelli, was hit by dozens of hammer blows.
At the appeal process Venturelli was assisted by the lawyer Vincenzo Coluccio, who announced an appeal to the Supreme Court.
