The International Legal Forum, with the support of 25 Jewish and pro-Israel organizations, this week published its conclusions on the UN investigation report on Operation Wall Guard.

According to the authors of the report, entitled "Fixed Inquiry", the appointment of South African Navi Pillai to head the inquiry was a clear step in writing the commission's conclusions in advance.

Pillai, who has a clear anti-Israel history, has previously expressed support for the BDS movement and met with groups linked to the Popular Front.

It also signed a petition in June 2020 calling on the UN to impose military sanctions and embargoes on Israel.

The committee headed by Philai is expected to publish its first findings in June and its final findings during September.

The mandate of the investigation that Pilai received from the UN Human Rights Council does not mention at all the terrorist organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which are responsible for firing on Israeli citizens of more than 4,500 rockets, missiles and shrapnel at the May 2021 events.

The committee's mandate letter already hints at the Human Rights Council's intention to present Israel as responsible and to blame for the "guardian of the walls" events and as an apartheid state.

It was further stated that the commission of inquiry could examine not only the events of the wall guard but also the "roots of the conflict", including "oppression based on racial identity".

UN hostile policy

More than 25 organizations from the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia, Norway, Belgium, Israel and more have collaborated on the International Legal Forum's report. Israel, therefore, should be seen as another step in the struggle of states and non-governmental bodies to act to create delegitimization of Israel and its right to protect its citizens from the rocket terrorism of terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, led by Hamas.

Dr. Dori Gould, president of the Jerusalem Center for Public and State Affairs (JCPA) and former Israeli ambassador to the UN, who wrote an introduction to the report, said: "UN hostile policy against Israel is influenced by officials appointed by the organization's bureaucracy. "Many UN officials have attacked Israel as unilaterally as Navi Pillai, so one can only expect the body it heads to act blatantly unfairly against Israel."

Advocate Arsen Ostrovsky, executive director of the International Legal Forum, added: "Pillai's appointment to chair the commission of inquiry into the events of the Wall Guard is a complete farce, contrary to the guidelines set by the Human Rights Council itself.

"These guidelines require that UN investigators be objective and independent of the subject they are investigating - two things that cannot be said about Pilate. Therefore, it must disqualify itself immediately."
