There was an accident with a regional train on the Munich - Mittenwald route on Monday.

A man died.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

- A serious accident involving a regional train occurred on Monday, May 16, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

A man (72) was killed.

According to the police, the emergency control center of Deutsche Bahn reported around 4:20 p.m. on Monday afternoon that there had been an accident involving personal injury on the Munich – Mittenwald railway line, in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area.

As the local police investigation revealed, a 72-year-old man who lived in the market town of Mittenwald entered the track area at the time of the accident and was hit by an approaching regional train.

The notified rescue service immediately took the accident victim to a hospital, where the treating doctors found severe injuries.

The man died the following day.

Regional train captures a man in Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Passengers are also injured

There were more than 100 passengers on the train at the time of the accident.

Two of them were slightly injured when the train driver initiated the emergency braking and were treated on site by the emergency services.

The train driver suffered a shock and was also taken to a hospital. 

The Deutsche Bahn emergency manager was able to clear the route again at 5:50 p.m. after the police had recorded the accident.

All passengers were able to continue their journey after the train had been released.

The permanent criminal service (KDD) of the Kripo Weilheim conducts the investigations into the exact course of the accident in the case.

According to the current status, a tragic accident must be assumed.
