Traffic is increasingly plaguing many people, including in Wörthsee.

This is confirmed by a survey carried out by a citizens' initiative.

Now the result is available.

Wörthsee

– An initiative by people “who are involved in social projects, in nature conservation associations, for biodiversity, in the ADFC and in other groups” distributed around 2000 questionnaires in the municipality of Wörthsee (we reported).

207 questionnaires were returned, as reported by spokeswoman Doja Muggenthaler in a press release.

The tenor of the answers: Many would like a 30 km/h speed limit and zebra crossings at dangerous spots, as well as speed bumps.

Doja Muggenthaler is happy with the result.

"We are pleased that so many Wörthseers have gotten involved in the campaign." There were only a few critical comments such as "You're crazy" or "Give up your driver's license", but there were many "thank yous" and detailed suggestions.

According to this, 154 respondents would like 30 km/h throughout the town (75 percent of the returns).

Many people had described that they "suffered a lot from the noise, as many speeders crossed the place and numerous trucks drove through Wörthsee".

Even more respondents, namely 161, "would like zebra crossings in dangerous places," reports Muggenthaler.

And especially at Edeka and on Schulstraße (both on Etterschlager Straße).

"When it comes to the S-Bahn footpath, 84 respondents hope that there will be either zebra crossings or some other form of crossing."

In order to stop speeders, many respondents would have suggested installing more speed bumps, especially at the entrances to towns.

"A citizen wrote to us: If we don't slow down the traffic, our place will collapse!" reports Muggenthaler.

"We were also told of a whole series of accidents, both serious and minor, as well as many near-accidents."

Many Wörthseers find the so-called pizza crossing in Steinebach problematic.

"We had already submitted an application for this three years ago," recalls Muggenthaler.

At that time, the municipal council would have spoken out in favor of zebra crossings.

The implementation failed because the Etterschlager Strasse is also a state road.

"Since opinions can be divided on many details, constructions are expensive and take a long time, we came to the conclusion that the introduction of 30 km/h would have killed a lot of birds with one stone," says Muggenthaler.

"It could be done quickly and wouldn't cost much either." The initiative is now planning an event on 30 km/h. "And we will submit appropriate applications.

This opinion, which emerged from our survey, gives us the basis for this.”
