Marriage from Jörg Pilawa after 16 years: "Yes, it's true"

TV presenter Jörg Pilawa and his wife Irina are separating after 16 years of marriage.

Overall, the two were a couple for 23 years.

According to his lawyer, the 56-year-old will not comment on the "well-being of the children together".

Hamburg – TV presenter Jörg Pilawa (56) and Irina (48) went through life together for more than 20 years.

But after 16 years of marriage, the love-off followed, as the 56-year-old's lawyer officially announced on Tuesday morning (May 17).

"Yes it's right.

Jörg and Irina Pilawa have been separated by mutual consent for several months.

Since my clients absolutely want to protect their privacy, also with regard to the well-being of their children, they will not comment further on the subject and ask that they refrain from further inquiries," confirmed Pilawa's lawyer the separation to Bild.de.

The Sat.1 presenter and the teacher were a couple for 23 years.

They have been married since May 2, 2006 – the wedding ceremony took place spontaneously in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa.

The TV star, who was born in Hamburg, worked there for humanitarian purposes.

For Jörg Pilawa, it is by no means the first separation: in 2000 he divorced his then wife Kerstin, with whom he had a son who was born in 1997.

The marriage to Irina Opaschwoski produced two daughters (* 2000, * 2011) and another son (* 2003).

His eldest daughter Emmy is currently taking her first steps as an actress.
