Nine people were killed and 24 others wounded during an anti-terror operation in the border region of eastern Tajikistan.
AFP quoted the Tajik Interior Ministry as saying in a statement: An officer was killed and 13 soldiers were seriously wounded, in addition to the killing of eight and the wounding of 11 members of an illegal armed group during a security operation in Gorno-Badakhshan region.
The authorities in Tajikistan launched an anti-terror operation in the Gorno-Badakhshan region on the borders with Afghanistan and China.
The Tajik authorities reported that the militants received weapons and support from international terrorist organizations and foreign mercenaries, accusing them of seeking to undermine the constitutional order in the country.
