Passenger shocked: Almost 14 euros for a ham sandwich at Mallorca airport

Most travelers are already used to overpriced groceries at airports.
In Mallorca, however, a 14-euro ham sandwich is causing a sensation.
In order to bridge the waiting time until departure at the airport, many passengers get a snack or a drink - high prices are sometimes accepted.
But with a
ham sandwich for 13.75 euros
, many holidaymakers seem to have reached the magic limit.
The "bocadillo de paleta de bellota" was discovered by a traveler at a free-standing stand in the lower hall in front of the check-in area at Mallorca Airport.
The passenger reports to the
Mallorca Zeitung
that the price increases caught his eye at the beginning of the year: "I noticed that in February, but now I've photographed it".

The passenger also shared a photo of the ham sandwich on Facebook: “By the way, this has nothing to do with inflation, but with madness!” he says.

However, the price for the small meal does not appear to be entirely out of thin air: “Paleta de bellota” is a
real gourmet ham

It comes from Iberian pigs that live in free pastures and feed mainly on acorns, wild herbs and olives.
According to
the Mallorca Zeitung
, a whole ham weighing 4.5 to 5 kilos is available from 200 euros.
Whether you're willing to pay that price or not, the sandwich obviously doesn't get you cheap ham.
