Shots are fired during a traffic check, a police officer is almost run over: A 29-year-old from Munich was in a chase with the police on Tuesday evening.

A wild chase through Thalkirchen and Sendling, shots fired shortly before midnight and a police officer who fears for his life: The scenes that took place in the south of Munich on Tuesday evening are more reminiscent of crime thriller action scenes on television than of everyday life in the city City.

It is now being determined against three people who were sitting in the getaway car – and who have completely lost their nerve.

Policeman has to jump for his life

The Porsche Cayenne was targeted by the police patrol at 11:45 p.m. in the McGraw-Graben area because of the driver’s conspicuous behavior.

But he never dreamed of being checked by the police.

"Instead, he fled in the direction of the wholesale market hall," explains police spokesman Werner Kraus.

During the ensuing chase, according to Kraus, the Porsche reached "beyond 100" kilometers an hour.

Red traffic lights were ignored when fleeing via the Tegernseer Landstraße, through the Candid tunnel and over the Brudermühlstraße.

The car finally stopped at Schäftlarnstraße with the hazard warning lights on.

When the police officers approached, the unbelievable happened: “The driver now made eye contact with one of the officers and suddenly drove straight towards him.

The two police officers then fired several times with their service weapons.

Then one of the officers had to save himself - by jumping to the side just in time in front of the car.

"Otherwise he would have been run over," Kraus explains.

Meanwhile, the Cayenne simply sped away.

29-year-old driver already known to the police

The car was only stopped by a second patrol on Isartalstrasse.

It turned out that there had been a driver change.

The man, a 29-year-old from Munich, was no longer behind the wheel.

This place was taken by one of the two 22-year-olds who were also in the car.

None of the three were injured by the shots.

But: One of the women and the 29-year-old had minor injuries from glass splinters.

It also showed that the man had already been investigated for driving without a license in the past.

Even with his crazy drive on Tuesday, a driver's license was non-existent.
