The Paris ring road, destined to become a "green belt" of the capital?

During a press conference intended for her intentions for the future of the Parisian circular ring, this Wednesday morning, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo indicated that she wanted to make the ring road a "green belt" of Paris.

The city councilor has promised to revegetate 10 hectares, plant 70,000 trees and reduce the number of traffic lanes throughout the 35 km ring.

As part of this project to transform the ring road into an urban boulevard, it envisages a lane reserved for buses, taxis and carpooling vehicles in 2024 and, from 2030, traffic limited to 3 lanes.

Even before this press conference, the police headquarters told Le Parisien that only the principle of a lane reserved for athletes, media and officials and only during the period of the Olympic Games, in 2024, has so far been validated by the state services.

Any other project imagined by the municipality must be presented to it.

During her press conference, the mayor clarified that this “Olympic route”, reserved for participants in the Olympic Games, will then be reserved for buses, taxis and carpooling, indicated her deputy (EELV) for mobility David Belliard, for whom these two measures will take 80,000 vehicles off the road.
