At its annual general meeting, the Maria Thalheim fire brigade looked back on three years in which it turned out 34 times.

There are currently 57 active members.

Maria Thalheim – After a forced two-year break, the Maria Thalheim fire brigade met again for the annual general meeting in the Pizzeria L'Italiano.

After all, after such a long time, it was important to look back at the work that had been done.

But honors and promotions were also on the program after a joint service in the pilgrimage church.

Chairman Christian Obermaier reported to around 30 comrades that there were currently 208 members of the fire brigade association.

Of these, 57 are actively serving, including nine women.

The youth fire brigade consists of ten people.

"Unfortunately, there wasn't much going on in club life because of Corona.

We couldn't celebrate any festivals, put up a maypole, or offer a Christmas market.

But this year the popular date before Christmas should be back," announced Obermaier.

The fire brigade would also like to help shape the village festival again and also help with the anniversary of the marksmen on September 13th.

No wonder that cashier Konrad Sturz didn't have to spend a lot of money: in 2020 there were around 1200 euros on the expenditure side, in 2021 only around 860 euros.

And so the fire brigade is happy about a current cash balance of around 13,000 euros, despite also low income.

Auditor Bernhard Schuster confirmed proper cash management.

Secretary Bernhard Schäffler and commander Harald Eberl reported that there were fewer operations during the pandemic.

"In 2019 we had to do 19 missions, in 2020 and 2021 together we only had to deploy 15 times," said Eberl.

Although there was a kitchen fire to extinguish, most of the operations involved repairing storm damage or providing technical assistance, accidents or flooded streets.

In addition, the bathing pond had to be cleaned.

Various courses also had to be cancelled.

But they should now take place again.

Fewer members than usual attended the exercises.

In his preview, the commander pointed out that in addition to the village festival, a 48-hour marathon was planned for the youth fire brigade, together with the fire brigades from Reichenkirchen and Fraunberg.

After the awards and promotions, district fire chief Thomas Metz, who has been working at the integrated control center in Erding since 2008 and has been an active firefighter since 1992, reported on new acquisitions in the district.

He referred to the extinguishing container, a container with a capacity of around 8,000 liters of water.

This can be requested by the fire brigade if necessary, for example if there is no access to sufficient extinguishing water in impassable terrain.

Metz also gave the Thalheim firefighters a sentence to take with them on their way, as a kind of leitmotif for upcoming decisions: "Slow down, it's pressing".
