The Oktoberfest is slowly approaching.

The first tent is already being set up on the Theresienwiese.

It is the Pschorr-Bräurosl.

Because the marquee is new - and was ceremoniously presented yesterday.

Many Oktoberfest visitors will rub their eyes: Arched roof instead of pointed gable, no half-timbered facade - is that still our Bräurosl?

Yes, but this year the tent is not only visually new, the host has also changed.

As reported, Peter Reichert has replaced the Heide family.

But one thing should remain unchanged: the unique atmosphere in the tent, said the new host and Hacker Pschorr Managing Director Andreas Steinfatt at the tent presentation.

"The Bräurosl thrives on its long history, its tradition," said Steinfatt.

This is to be continued with the complete new Bräurosl building.

With a ridge height of 15 meters, the tent will be the tallest at the Wiesn.

Nevertheless, it should be reminiscent of the historical model from 1901.

Landlord Reichert speaks of a recognition feature: the tent roof will be decorated with hop vines reminiscent of the Donisl.

Reichert is also the host there.

New tent offers more space for visitors

The new tent is 80 meters long and 57.5 meters wide.

It offers space for a total of 7050 people, plus 1200 seats in the garden - just as many as before.

Thanks to the new loggia on the upper floor and the additional space, Bräurosl visitors should be able to sit more comfortably in the future.

"There will be a distance between the benches, the focus is on the comfort of the guest," said tent builder Ulli Pletschacher.

The feel-good factor is greater, which also has something to do with the new ventilation and lighting.

Insight into the new tent: Green is the dominant color, hop vines are climbing under the roof.

Pletschacher – he has been building Oktoberfest tents since 2000 – is currently hard at work with his team.

The scaffolding of the new Bräurosl is already in place and is an eye-catcher on the Theresienwiese.

Next up is the north extension, then the digging work to lay the lines.

Apart from the scaffolding, nothing else will initially be built.

When asked what was the most difficult thing about building a tent, Pletschacher replied: "Persevering."

The innkeepers and showmen also had to persevere.

Because the Wiesn had been canceled for two years due to the corona.

The joy of the new start is correspondingly great, but also the nervousness.

Because there is still a lot to do before the start.

New tent is "prototype of renewal"

As a host, Reichert has had experience with the beauty queen at the Oidn Wiesn.

Now he replaces the Heide family, who withdrew from the Wiesn after 83 years.

"The Bräurosl is something very special," says Reichert.

Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner thinks so too.

The new tent is the prototype of renewal.

"It's been slightly modernized, but preserves what the Wiesn is all about," he says.

Because the Oktoberfest has a soul of its own.

Hopefully you can feel it again from September 17th.
