In an appeal to the Defense Minister, they wrote: The soldiers have difficulty maintaining a training routine and are retiring • "The IDF does not benefit from the situation either"

Parents of outstanding athletes yesterday (Wednesday) demanded a re-examination of the outstanding athletes' service in the IDF and the introduction of a reform on the subject. A. Champion will yield a decade, and is published today.

The issue of the service of outstanding athletes in the IDF was revealed in Israel Today on Tuesday, when a report was published by the Knesset Research and Information Center, which stated that service in the IDF harms outstanding athletes. Maintain a routine of training and nutrition during their military service, a fact that harms their athletic achievements as well as the quality of the athletes in the entire State of Israel.

In a letter sent, the parents stated: "Athletes are required to undergo training for several weeks during which they will not be able to train at all. They are sent to military courses - during which they will also not train. We do not actually benefit from the military service of the athlete, who is unable to maintain his competence, advance professionally and achieve international achievements.

"Israel is hit twice: on the one hand, state funds invested in the young teams - in training camps, competitions and trips abroad - go down the drain due to the interruption of the sports continuum and the inability of the athletes to return to the track of achievement;

On the other hand, it is losing athletes who could have achieved and even served as 'ambassadors' representing Israel in the world. "

The Ministry of Culture and Sports stated: "The placement of outstanding athletes in the IDF is done according to orderly criteria that are published in advance. The Ministry and the Achievement Sports Unit receive the rank and score of those athletes from the association. Coordinated meeting with the representatives. "

An IDF spokesman responded: "The IDF considers the military service of the athletes to be of great importance. The Personnel Division accordingly grants tailored entitlements for the athletes so that they can continue to engage in their sporting activities alongside their service. The letter in question was received and answered as usual."
