The San Tin Wai shopping mall in Shatin was acquired by Link in the early years, and was sold to the mainland company Foshan Shunlian Group in 2017. The renovation started in 2019. However, the project has no deadline, and the shopping mall, which has been vacant for 6 years, is still heavily fenced. Apart from the fact that the market is still a rotten land, the beautified and remodeled spaces are still not open to the public, causing residents to make a trip to enter the supermarket or convenience store on the same floor, causing a lot of inconvenience.

A number of residents of San Tin Wai Village went to the office of Shun Lian Holdings (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. in Causeway Bay to petition today (18th), hoping to reflect the existing problems of San Tin Wai Shopping Mall and demand improvements.

San Tin Wai Village, Shatin, is located on a hill with a total of 8 buildings and a population of about 10,000. Many of them are already elderly. In the past, residents' daily life relied heavily on the shopping malls and shops in the market. After being acquired by the mainland enterprise Foshan Shunlian Group on February 14, it soon became a dead place.

According to the neighbors, the only livelihood businesses in the venue were forced to close, the main roads and lifts were blocked, and the restrooms were constantly closed.

A group of neighbors from San Tin Wai Village who attended the petition went to Foshan Shunlian's office in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong to petition today, holding up different photos and slogans during the petition.

According to them, there are seven major dissatisfactions with the San Tin Wai shopping mall. They pointed out that the public housing shopping mall being vacant for 6 years is a waste of land resources. It is rare, and the long-term renovation of the shopping mall has brought noise nuisance, and sand and dust also endangered the health of residents.

They also pointed out that the 4th floor of the shopping mall was originally a public rest space, but the site was left empty for many years, neither developed nor used by residents, which made the neighbors feel helpless and angry.
