Cut!

by Michel Hazanavicius at the opening of this 75th edition, the Italian actress and model did not go unnoticed on the red carpet.

Her beauty was given to her clothing, exclusively signed Chanel: "We looked at her look together, she gave me her vision vis-à-vis the dress and a direction for her makeup," says Sandrine Cano. Bock, Chanel make-up artist, who was responsible for sublimating Matilda Lutz on the occasion of this preview.

The part of her face she wanted to highlight?

Her look: “She wanted to have stronger eye makeup than usual.

Initially, she showed me a classic smoky eye as a model,” continues the expert.

Intense eye make-up

Finally, Matilda Lutz sported a more sophisticated style than a simple smoky eye.

“I went for a more graphic flush.

I mixed two textures and two different colors: a black pencil with a brown eyeshadow with red undertones,” explains Sandrine Cano Bock.

The interest?

“It gives a more textured effect, not too dry and not too oily either.”

The specialist applied the mixture to the top and bottom of the eye, slightly degrading it to give a more blurred side.

"It creates like a kind of shadow that gives a little less 'perfect' look.

I think it's important that there is life in a make-up”, she specifies.

"Finally, I applied a lot of mascara to open up her eyes."

A naturally radiant complexion

As for the rest of the makeup, it was more discreet to leave the spotlight on the eyes.

“She has very pretty skin and a natural freshness that I didn't want to ruin by using materials that were too thick.

It was not necessary that we perceive a practice of make-up”, confides Sandrine Cano Bock, “everything is in the finesse, the colors are very timeless”.

The make-up artist preferred to focus on preparing the skin by performing facial massage exercises with a gua sha, then applying patches under the eyes to deflate them beforehand.

Then, a simple cream to moisturize her dry skin followed by Chanel Eau de Teint were enough to enhance her luminous complexion.

“On the other hand, at the Cannes Film Festival, I always add a little more powder to the actresses' faces.

Between the time we do their make-up and the time they go up the stairs, the result must remain impeccable because we are not with them to make touch-ups", adds the expert, "so I always give them a small package mattifying papers to be used before they get into the car.”

To complete this natural healthy-glow effect, the make-up artist applied Chanel's Baume n°1, in a lightly tinted color, to Matilda Lutz's lips and cheeks: "As a final touch on the cheekbones, it brings shine and brings make-up back to life,” she says.

The pro trick to make it last all evening?

“I sprayed a little Chanel Hydra Beauty mist on her face like a make-up fixative, just before she left,” reveals Sandrine Cano Bock to conclude.
