"It must be condemned and aggravated with anyone who seeks through the threat to change the way a public figure behaves, and in this losing way influence the democratic system, and bring about different results, by virtue of his threats," the ruling said in
response to the original sentence. "It is not possible for such cases to recur and multiply in the country, so in terms of the public interest, a court sentence should not be satisfied and should be aggravated to actual imprisonment."
The prosecution further argued that "any person hiding behind a keyboard should be shown before he dares to make such statements, that he is subject to severe punishment."
The court eventually upheld the appeal and sentenced Ben-David to 13 months in prison.
"This is a threat that constitutes a serious violation of the democratic system, with an expression of a desire to change the order of government with severe violence, against the life of a prime minister," the court ruled.
