The Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) held its 108th meeting at the level of delegates of oil and energy ministers in the member states of the State of Kuwait headed by Syria, which is chairing the current year 2022 session.
The Secretary-General of the organization, Ali Sabt bin Sabt, said in a statement that the meeting, which was chaired by Eng. Khaled Al-Alej, the assistant minister of oil and mineral resources, the representative of Syria in the executive office of the organization, discussed a number of topics related to the work and activities of the organization, including the ratification of the final accounts of the organization for the year 2021. The meeting was also briefed On the report prepared on the preparations and preparations for the 12th Arab Energy Conference to be held in Qatar during the last quarter of 2023, and on the events and symposiums organized by, participating in, or to be organized by the General Secretariat during the current year.
He explained that the council was also briefed on the reports prepared by the General Secretariat of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), including a report on the global petroleum situation, a report on gas flaring on the flame, a report on the “Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its initial repercussions on global oil markets” and a report on “developments of liquefied natural gas and hydrogen.” ” and others.
Earlier, the 162nd meeting of the Executive Office was held under the chairmanship of Eng. Al-Alej, during which the progress made in the field of activating the relationship between the General Secretariat of the Organization and the Arab companies emanating from it was held, and the role of the Organization in training and coordinating the positions of Member States and the rest of the countries on climate change negotiations and obligations, developing the data bank and activating the turn.
The meeting also dealt with the selection of the OAPEC Award for Scientific Research for the year 2022 from among three proposed areas related to the petroleum transformational industries, new and renewable energies, and decarbonization technologies in the petroleum industry and the circular economy of carbon.
