Woman crashes into a tree head-on with a BMW: seriously injured, flown to the hospital by helicopter

Stangenried – A 78-year-old woman crashed her car into a tree near Stangenried on Wednesday morning and sustained serious injuries.
According to the Dachau Police Inspectorate, the pensioner, who comes from the Hilgertshausen-Tandern municipality, drove her BMW i3 at around 11.15 a.m. on State Road 2050 from Langenpettenbach in the direction of Hilgertshausen.
Unknown cause, without third party involvement
In front of Stangenried, she left the roadway for an unknown reason and without any outside involvement and crashed head-on into a tree.
She was badly injured.
The fire brigades from Indersdorf, Langenpettenbach and Hilgertshausen were on site to free the woman "with heavy rescue equipment", according to the Indersdorf commander Carsten Rummeling.
The 78-year-old had to be flown by helicopter to the Klinikum Rechts der Isar in Munich.
The totally destroyed electric vehicle was recovered by a towing service.
According to PI, the property damage is estimated at 30,000 euros.
The road was closed for the duration of the accident investigation and the rescue measures.
