Royal visit to the Bavarian capital.

Queen Silvia of Sweden is coming to Munich on Friday.

This is where the 78-year-old resides.

Munich - Munich is her heart city.

Queen Silvia of Sweden (78) attended a language and interpreter institute here as a young woman, worked in the Argentine consulate and, as a hostess at the 1972 Olympic Games, met her future husband King Carl XVI.

On Friday, the Swedish Queen will once again come to the Bavarian capital to support her niece Désirée Princess von Bohlen und Halbach (58) in her commitment to dementia patients in her association Desideria Care.

On Saturday at 3 p.m. the family concert Music in the Mind for people with and without dementia will take place in the old town hall hall.

Queen Silvia is the guest of honor and will take a seat in the front row when everyone is seated.

"It means a lot to me that my aunt, Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden, is coming to Munich to work with me to raise public awareness of dementia," says von Bohlen und Halbach.

Both are united by their social commitment.


Queen Silvia of Sweden has been supporting people with dementia in Sweden for decades with her Silviahemmet Foundation.

Her mother was also seriously ill with dementia.

In 2017, Désirée von Bohlen und Halbach founded her association Desideria Care, which helps affected families.

Munich: Royal visit on Friday - Silvia of Sweden resides in the Bayerischer Hof

Queen Silvia will arrive in Munich on Friday, according to the club.

She will stay at the luxury hotel Bayerischer Hof.

There she will also take part in a talk by the Munich Press Club on Friday afternoon, and in the evening Her Majesty will attend a gala dinner with selected guests - again for the benefit of dementia patients.


There will probably not be time for autographs, short talks and photos for fans of the Queen.

Husband King Carl Gustaf is also not part of the Munich visit.

The queen is accompanied by a bodyguard and a lady-in-waiting.

Since she is not on an official visit, Silvia of Sweden does not meet the Bavarian Prime Minister Dr.

Markus Söder (55) nor Munich's Mayor Dieter Reiter (63).

If the schedule allows, the Queen may visit Prince Leopold of Bavaria (78) before the trip goes back to Sweden on Sunday.

He and King Carl Gustaf have been friends since 1961.

They met Carl Gustaf's sister Birgitta (85) at the wedding of his uncle Johann Georg Prince of Hohenzollern (†83).

Poldi became the godfather of Prince Carl-Philip of Sweden (43), who came to him at Lake Starnberg for four weeks as a child to learn German.

Both families have a close relationship.
