A Freudian slip of the tongue?

Ex-US President Bush irritates his audience in Texas with a mix-up.

And Volodymyr Zelenskyj he praises in bizarre words.

Dallas - Can he really blame this slip of the tongue on his advanced age?

George W. Bush has given a speech on Russia's current political course and, referring to Vladimir Putin, has spoken of "a single man's decision to launch a totally unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq".

Iraq?

Wasn't that the Ukraine war?

Ex-US President Bush also noticed this himself. "I mean: to the Ukraine," he added - and when he noticed the irritation in the audience, then laughing: "Well, I'm already 75 years old".

Ukraine war: Ex-US President Bush apparently thinks of Iraq during his speech

Bush was US President from 2001 to 2009.

The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 occurred during his term of office, a few months after he took office.

The USA began its “war on terror”: the invasion of Afghanistan was followed in 2003 by the war in Iraq.

The United States justified military action against Iraq with alleged weapons of mass destruction owned by ruler Saddam Hussein - which were never found.

Bush compares Selenskyj to Churchill in the Ukraine war

According to the

Dallas Morning News

, Bush made a slip of the tongue at an event in Dallas, Texas focused on the integrity of political elections.

"The elections in Russia are rigged," quoted the Bush newspaper.

"Oppositionists are jailed or otherwise discouraged from engaging in politics."

The speech included one of the few public statements by the former US President on the escalating Ukraine conflict since February.

Bush compared Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and called

Zelenskyy a "cool little guy".
