Place signs are apparently in great demand - those of Nandlstadt seem to be particularly so.

Three were recently stolen.

But sign thieves were also active in Paunzhausen and Mauer.

District

– In the past two months, several place-name signs and traffic signs have been stolen in Nandlstadt.

So far nobody knows who or what is behind it.

But the damage is immense: the incidents on Saturday alone, where three place-name signs were stolen, one destroyed and two traffic signs swapped, cause costs of around 1,500 euros, according to the police.

And there are two other communities where place-name signs are missing.

According to Mayor Johann Daniel, three place-name signs were stolen on Holy Saturday in Paunzhausen, with one "appearing" again, as the head of town hall reports, without wanting to go into detail.

On the free night of May 1st, unknown persons allowed themselves a prank on the townspeople: the town signs for Schernbuch, Walterskirchen and Angerhöfe were hung up at the entrance to Paunzhausen.

However: "Nothing was broken there," says Daniel, who classifies the action as a "free night joke".

But stealing place-name signs, such as at Easter, "that's not possible.

You don't do something like that.” Daniel didn't make the thefts public or report them to the police.

"What's the point of that?" he said.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

In the municipality of Mauern, too, signs are stolen “from time to time”.

The most recent incident happened a good two months ago, as Mayor Georg Krojer reports.

Coming from Schwarzersdorf, the place-name sign was removed and never reappeared.

A new one has now been ordered – “but that will take time,” says Krojer.

And it's expensive - around 380 euros.

In 2021 he already had to replace the sign in Waldruh.

"You can also use 30 and 50 signs," speculates Krojer - some of them have also been lost.

On the other hand, what "is going on in Nandlstadt is extreme," says Mauern's mayor.

"Someone is making a sport out of it." Krojer thinks it's right that community leader Gerhard Betz "sounds the alarm".

In fact, for the second time in two months, the municipality has filed a complaint against unknown persons.

Now Betz hopes that the citizens will keep their eyes open and report possible witnesses to the community or the police.

After all: In Nandlstadt a town sign has reappeared.

A user wrote on Facebook about the FT post about the missing signs: "Very, very annoying, but fortunately it was found today in the playground and is in the school." Moosburg's police chief Christian Bidinger was also able to confirm this.

So far there is no trace of any of the other plaques.

If they no longer appear, the place-name signs must be replaced – which costs 400 euros each.
