The demand for allotment gardens is high - also in Eching.

For this reason, the allotment garden there will be expanded to include plots, parking spaces and sanitary facilities.

Eching

– Eching's allotments are growing: the allotments between the Autobahn and Goethestraße, which were established in 1976 and have grown to 58 plots, are to be expanded by 36 more allotments to the north due to constant demand.

After the obligatory “weighing of the concerns and suggestions raised in the early participation of the public and the authorities”, the urban development plan was unanimously launched in the municipal council.

The construction phase envisages 36 new allotment gardens, 14 new parking spaces including two disabled parking spaces and sanitary facilities along the motorway wall to the A 9.

The character of a park-like green area that is accessible to everyone is retained.

During the design, one focus was on the "professional monuments" requirements expressed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation: Since Eching is known to be located on soil richly blessed in terms of settlement history, it is originally "further monuments from the continuation of settlements and burial grounds of different periods" to to be counted among prehistoric finds, according to the official statement.

For this purpose, archaeological excavations are carried out selectively.

Autobahn Südbayern GmbH had warned that there was a need for correction with regard to the planned placement of the gazebos.

In addition, it was stated that in the area of the prescribed no-cultivation zone over a width of 40 meters, measured from the outer edge of the paved motorway carriageway, no permanent structures may be erected.

This applies without restriction, even if no expansion is currently planned for the section in question in the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030.

For this reason, the locations of some garden sheds had to be moved compared to the original plan.

The community garden will remain in the allotment garden extension at the previous location and will be bordered by an orchard.

The overall planning was coordinated in close cooperation between the commissioned planning office, the board of directors of the allotment garden association and the actors of the "Urban Gardening Project" of the adult education center, who have been creating a community garden on around 800 square meters adjacent to the allotment garden north of Goethestrasse since 2018.

This is to remain at the location in the current dimensions during the expansion.

In this way, allotment gardens and community gardens grow together to form a larger public green space.

Orchard meadows are created as a visual demarcation between the allotment garden and community garden area and as a closure to the railway line.

A raised bed garden is also being planned as a further offer for “collective gardening”.

From this offer, so the idea, for example, garden newcomers,

Families with little time or senior citizens make use of it.

Theme gardens and garden projects for kindergartens and schools, which could be awarded to schools or kindergartens on an annual basis, are also conceivable.

With the implementation of the enlarged community and community green area, the municipality expects to make an important contribution to species protection, as well as to public relations work in the field of biodiversity.

The plan will be laid out again after the demands made have been incorporated and will then become legally binding.
